About Gem of the Forest
Gem of the Forest is a Waldorf-inspired Forest kindergarten nestled on eight acres of wild and beautiful South Austin land. Here, children are invited to explore, imagine, and grow in harmony with nature’s rhythms.
We believe childhood is a sacred time — a time for wonder, hands-on learning, meaningful play, and connection to the living world. Our days flow gently through outdoor exploration, artistic work, storytelling, and seasonal celebration, all guided by the nurturing hands and hearts of our experienced teachers.
At Gem of the Forest, we cherish the whole child — head, heart, and hands — and honor the unfolding of each child’s spirit, carried by the warmth of community and the magic of the forest.

Teacher, Mother, Guide — and the One Who Holds the Vision
Tischia, mother of two and Waldorf educator for over 15 years, leads Gem of the Forest with warmth, wisdom, and heart. A dedicated teacher, parent educator, and former co-director at the Waldorf Institute of Southern California, she is passionate about nurturing children — and the adults who guide them.
